We keep saying that Western/Americans have better healthcare
facilities. This is not true, they may have better infrastructure, but
in terms of software(skill of the Doctors) we are par or even shade
above.Where the major difference lies is in attitude of the patient and
their families.Here when we see somebody suffering and tell the patient
that surgery should be done,the first reaction is I am not going for
it.There is such a fear against surgeries ,whether right or wrong-nobody
has the right answer.People are willing to suffer endlessly but will
not go for surgery.In sharp contrast is advanced country,they are going
for preventive surgeries.Recently in a much publicised case, a
Hollywood actress went for one such preventive surgery .Infact this
trend is catching on there and if we compare the situation in India,even
if is given the only treatment for the problem is surgery,still people
are not open.
